Infrastructure & Facilities


Allahabad is well-linked to other important cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Calcutta, Bhopal, Bombay etc. Varanasi airport is 110 km. from the campus. From Delhi, it is overnight journey to Allahabad by Prayag-Raj Express train, which runs daily.
It is a traditional pilgrimage city of Hindus and millions participate in dip (bath) in the Sangam (Confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati rivers) every winter.


Large green campus spread over an area of 10 acres on the National Highway No. 2 (Allahabad - Varanasi Road) about 10 kms. from Allahabad Junction Railway Station and 1 km. from Triveni Sangam. Auto-three wheelers are generally available from all the three main railway stations (Allahabad Junction, Prayag and Allahabad City) for Rs. 75/- each journey.

Academic Building

Architecturally well designed building (approximately 45,000 sq. feet) which has faculty offices, library, computer centres, a seminar hall, a committee meeting room and the administrative wing. The seminar hall and committee rooms are big enough to hold large meetings and conferences of 50-60 people. Acoustically well maintained auditorium with fully air-conditioned has a seating capacity of 200 persons where all major in-house events of the Institute are conducted.

Guest House and Hostel

12 well-furnished Air-conditioned VIP rooms for visitors and scholars.

A guest house with 2 VIP suites and 10 fully furnished air-conditioned rooms to host scholars and visitors at the Institute. Fully furnished 24 double bedrooms with attached bathroom and toilet. It is available for scholars and students with a subsidized rent for any number of days depending on the nature of work and consent of the Registrar. A large dining hall and sitting lounge in-built in the Guest House runs a regular mess for daily meals. The mess caters to the needs of both the students and the visiting guest scholars.

32 residential flats for academic and supporting staff.

Housing for faculty and employees. Within the campus of the Institute, there are 32 residential flats for faculty and other employees.

Computer Centre

The Institute provides advanced computing facilities and other support infrastructure for research. It has two Computer Laboratories with approximately 100 Personal Computers (PCs) and a computer each in the faculty office are networked and are provided with 2 MBPS Broadband internet access. The facility caters to a wide range of publishing and printing work, data analyses, and as sophisticated teaching aids. An audio-visual laboratory with Apple iMac and video-conferencing with rural stations and other institutions, gives a boost to the research and learning experience at the Institute.


The Institute has a modern library that serves as a national centre of information and is recognized as the regional resource centre. Lends access to more than 50,000 books and archival material; 150 national and international journals and documents of studies and researches did in the ethnography of development, social science and social sector management. The library also subscribes to online research databases like EBSCO Host and CMIE’s Business Beacon.

One of the largest social science libraries in the region, it is particularly rich in development studies, rural development and management, political economy, political sociology, rural technology and administration, cultural anthropology, social psychology, popular culture, education and fields related to environment and action research.

Seminar Hall

A seminar hall with high-tech audio-visual aids can seat 60 delegates for regular in-house deliberations and special talks by the visiting scholars. Committee room gives comfortable seating to the faculty alongwith visitors to meet and discuss issues of academic and administrative nature.
